FAQ

What does your exhaust & muffler service include?

Visual/aural inspection from manifold to tailpipe, CO leak check, backpressure test, hangers/mounts assessment, O2 sensor scan, and a written estimate for repair or replacement—done in-shop for safety.

How do I know if my muffler or exhaust needs repair?

Louder-than-normal sound, droning on the highway, exhaust smell in the cabin, rattles on bumps, visible rust/holes, hanging pipes, or a Check Engine Light (often P0420/P0430).

Is it safe to drive with an exhaust leak?

Do not assume the vehicle is safe to drive. If exhaust is entering the cabin, components are hanging or hot gases could damage nearby parts, stop in a safe place, switch off the engine and arrange recovery rather than driving to the shop. Carbon monoxide is odourless, so lack of smell does not establish safety. Have the leak and its location assessed before further use.

What parts of the exhaust can you fix or replace?

Exhaust manifold, gaskets and studs, flex pipe, catalytic converter, resonator, mid-pipe, muffler, tailpipe, flanges, clamps, and hangers/mounts.

Can you weld, or do you only replace parts?

Both. We offer quality welding for flanges, hangers, and patchable sections. If structure or emissions components are compromised, we recommend replacement.

How long does a typical exhaust repair take?

Hanger/clamp/weld repair: 30–90 minutes. Cat/resonator/muffler section: 1.5–3 hours. Manifold or seized hardware can add time—we’ll confirm same-day.

What causes that rotten-egg (sulfur) smell?

Usually a failing catalytic converter or rich fuel mixture. We test fuel trims and O2 sensors to fix the root cause, not just the smell.

Why is my car suddenly very loud?

A broken flex pipe, cracked flange, or separated muffler shell is common. Winter salt in Toronto accelerates corrosion at weld seams and low spots.

Can a bad exhaust cause poor fuel economy or power loss?

Yes. A restricted cat or crushed pipe increases backpressure; leaks can skew O2 readings. We verify with backpressure and live-data tests.

Do you replace oxygen (O2) sensors?

Confirm the correct sensor application and diagnose its circuit and operating response before replacement. Follow the specified thread/torque instructions and use anti-seize only where permitted. Clearing fault codes resets readiness status; monitors must subsequently run under the required operating conditions rather than being cleared to completed.

Will a new muffler be louder or drone?

We match OEM-like sound unless you request performance tone. We also add/respec resonators to limit highway drone.

Do you install performance or stainless systems?

Yes—stainless cat-back/axle-back options and mandrel-bent pipes. We’ll balance tone, legal limits, fitment, and budget.

Is a muffler delete legal in Toronto?

Noise bylaws and provincial regulations can apply. We don’t recommend deletes for street vehicles; we’ll propose quiet performance alternatives.
