Aurora Winter Tires, Wheel Swaps & Balancing Guide

Prepare Aurora winter tire fitment and seasonal service. Separate wheel swaps, balancing, TPMS relearns and vehicle-specific alignment requirements.

Winter readiness combines a suitable tire set with correct installation and a serviceable vehicle. Plan the seasonal appointment around sustained cold, and distinguish the wheel swap from balancing or alignment work.

Planning winter tires or a seasonal changeover? Contact Us. Give the assembly sizes, condition record and any previous vibration. Confirm whether you need tires, a swap or balancing.

How do changeover records help the next seasonal visit?

How do changeover records help the next seasonal visit?
DecisionDirect answerUseful booking information
Before removalRecord position, tread, model, size and existing symptoms.Labelled set and a short condition record.
StorageProtect clean, dry assemblies according to the tire manufacturer’s instructions.Note mounting status and visible damage before storage.
Refitting and balancingReassess condition, pressures and sensor recognition; symptoms can justify further balance diagnosis.Previous vibration and directional or staggered specifications.

Use the changeover as a recorded inspection point

Record tread depth and wear by position before storing the removed set. Retain the tire model and date-code information with the service record. On refitting, confirm directional rotation and any staggered size requirements. A seasonal appointment is a useful check point for symptoms; it does not automatically include road-force testing, ADAS calibration or a complete suspension inspection.

Keep a winter changeover record that helps diagnosis

  • Label the prior wheel positions and record tread across each tire. Store the model, size, service description and date-code information with the set.
  • Note any directional tread and staggered wheel differences before planning a rotation; not every set allows a cross-pattern.
  • Record existing vibration, pulling or pressure warnings before removal so a later concern is not automatically attributed to the new installation.
  • On return, reassess stored condition and verify cold pressures and the application’s TPMS procedure.

This record makes spring and autumn comparisons useful. It also helps distinguish gradual wear, storage damage and installation-related findings without promising a diagnosis from the record alone.

Choose a seasonal setup before the cold arrives

Use the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) marking to identify snow-traction qualification; an M+S marking alone is different. Winter tires suit sustained cold and winter road conditions, while all-weather tires offer a year-round compromise. Summer performance tires require particular care as temperatures fall. Transport Canada uses 7°C as a planning threshold and recommends four winter tires. Its snow-use guidance cautions against tread worn close to 4 mm; that is not a universal legal wear limit.

Keep the vehicle-approved size and service description, or an approved winter fitment. Staggered vehicles can require different front and rear sizes. Book a seasonal tire change before a forecast becomes an urgent scheduling problem.

Store the removed set with usable inspection records

Clean and dry the tires, label their prior positions, and record tread depth across each tread along with the date code and observed damage. Protect them from direct sunlight, heat, oils and ozone sources. Use the tire manufacturer’s guidance for storing mounted assemblies versus unmounted tires.

Before refitting, reassess cracking, cuts, bead condition and previous repairs. Age is one input; apply the tire and vehicle manufacturers’ replacement guidance rather than a universal age claim. Rotation follows the vehicle and tire pattern: directional and staggered setups can limit cross-rotation.

Use the set’s record to plan the changeover

Provide the tire model and sizes, prior wheel positions, tread observations and any vibration or pressure warning. Confirm inspection and refitting, with balancing or further diagnosis identified separately where condition or symptoms justify it. Contact Us. Confirm current hours and the appointment at the North York shop, or the accepted mobile tire coverage for the job address.
