Whitby Seasonal Wheel Swaps & TPMS Checklist
Prepare a Whitby seasonal wheel change with wheel-lock, TPMS and tire-condition checks. Confirm mobile access and the complete appointment scope.
A successful seasonal wheel swap starts before lifting the vehicle: confirm fitment, sensor compatibility, usable tread, hardware and the wheel-lock key. Loose-tire mounting is a separate service.
Booking a second wheel-set change? Contact Us. Provide both tire sizes, wheel hardware, locking-key availability and sensor details. Confirm the assemblies are ready for inspection and refitting.
What should be checked before fitting a second wheel set?
| Decision | Direct answer | Useful booking information |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware and seating | Each wheel set needs compatible fastener seats, locating surfaces and the specified torque procedure. | Wheel-lock key and the correct hardware for that set. |
| Stored condition | Damage, missing hardware and bead or valve problems need assessment before refitting. | Assembly photos, sizes and storage-related concerns. |
| Pressure monitoring | Compatible direct sensors need the vehicle’s recognition procedure; indirect systems use their specified reset. | TPMS type and available sensor information. |
Check the second wheel set before booking
Look for missing hardware, bent rims, bead corrosion, cracked valve stems and tire damage from storage. Direct TPMS sensors need a compatible frequency and protocol for the vehicle; battery condition and relearn requirements also matter. A dashboard reset cannot make an incompatible sensor communicate. Photograph the size and sensor details where available, and ask for the sensor plan in the quote.
Check hardware before swapping a second wheel set
- Confirm the locking key and the fasteners specified for each wheel set. An aftermarket seat design may differ from the original wheel.
- Inspect the wheel’s mounting face, locating surfaces and relevant hardware for damage or corrosion before fitting.
- Follow the specified torque and sequence, with lubrication only where the OEM procedure requires it.
- Ask for the vehicle or wheel manufacturer’s recheck instruction rather than assuming one universal post-installation interval.
Correct hardware and seating are separate from balancing. A wheel that appears to bolt on still requires compatible fasteners, locating geometry and clearance.
Distinguish a wheel swap from mounting loose tires
A seasonal wheel swap installs tires already mounted on their own wheels. Loose tires need demounting, mounting and balancing; this requires different equipment and a different quote. Provide wheel size, vehicle details, locking-key availability and photos of the assemblies before booking.
Wheel installation requires approved lifting points, clean mating surfaces, compatible hardware and the OEM torque specification. Lubricate fasteners only when the procedure calls for it. Direct TPMS sensors may need application-specific programming and/or a relearn; indirect TPMS generally uses a vehicle reset procedure. Confirm sensor compatibility and included labour in the installation and balancing estimate.
Confirm whether the work can be completed on site
Provide your postal code, vehicle, tire size, required work and access details. A mobile appointment needs a safe, firm, level working area with space for lifting and equipment. Traffic exposure, slopes, underground restrictions, seized hardware or a damaged wheel can make shop work or towing necessary.
MasterDrive’s verified shop is at 22 Ingram Drive, Unit 2, North York, ON M6M 2L6. Regional guides describe customers’ service needs; they do not establish a shop in every city. Confirm dispatch coverage, equipment, travel charges and timing through our contact page. Same-day availability must be confirmed for the specific job.
Prepare the second set for a confirmed swap
Identify the vehicle, mounted assembly sizes, correct fasteners and wheel-lock key. Explain stored damage or pressure-monitoring concerns, then confirm the swap, inspection and vehicle-specific TPMS procedure in the appointment scope. Contact Us. Confirm current hours and the appointment at the North York shop, or the accepted mobile tire coverage for the job address.
