A seasonal swap installs an existing wheel set. Balancing addresses mass imbalance, while a winter-tire purchase requires a separate fitment and availability decision. Ask for those items separately in the quote.

Need a wheel swap, balance check or winter tire quote? Contact Us. State which operation you need, your assembly sizes and any vibration history. Confirm equipment availability where special diagnosis is required.

Investigate vibration before adding services

If a vibration existed before the swap, record its speed range and whether it changes under braking. If it starts afterwards, wheel seating, hardware, pressure and assembly condition require prompt attention. Rebalancing can be appropriate, but damaged wheels, tire uniformity and suspension faults may need further diagnosis. Confirm road-force equipment separately if the diagnostic plan requires it.

Decide whether a stored wheel set needs balancing

  • Record pre-existing vibration and the prior set’s service history. Storage alone does not prove that a previously balanced assembly needs another correction.
  • Inspect for missing weights, wheel damage and contamination or corrosion affecting seating. Identify symptoms after installation promptly.
  • Request a balance check where condition or symptoms justify it, and further diagnosis where runout or tire uniformity is suspected.
  • Confirm road-force measurement only when the diagnostic plan requires it and the equipment is available.

A complete seasonal assembly can be swapped without demounting the tire. Keep inspection, balancing and loose-tire installation separate in the estimate so each authorization has a clear purpose.

Separate balance, alignment and vibration diagnosis

Dynamic balancing corrects mass imbalance in the tire-and-wheel assembly. Alignment measures wheel geometry against vehicle-specific toe, camber, caster and thrust-angle targets. Neither procedure automatically solves every vibration. Radial or lateral runout, tire uniformity, hub seating and worn suspension parts can require separate diagnosis.

Road-force measurement uses additional diagnostic equipment; confirm availability before specifying it. Ask for the before-and-after alignment measurements where an alignment is performed. Steering-angle reset and ADAS calibration are application-dependent operations, with their own prerequisites and charges.

Distinguish a wheel swap from mounting loose tires

A seasonal wheel swap installs tires already mounted on their own wheels. Loose tires need demounting, mounting and balancing; this requires different equipment and a different quote. Provide wheel size, vehicle details, locking-key availability and photos of the assemblies before booking.

Wheel installation requires approved lifting points, clean mating surfaces, compatible hardware and the OEM torque specification. Lubricate fasteners only when the procedure calls for it. Direct TPMS sensors may need application-specific programming and/or a relearn; indirect TPMS generally uses a vehicle reset procedure. Confirm sensor compatibility and included labour in the installation and balancing estimate.

Quote the seasonal operations separately

Identify whether the request is a mounted-set swap, loose-tire installation, balancing or a new winter set. Include vehicle, tire sizes, sensor requirements and vibration symptoms, and confirm the included operations in the estimate. Contact Us.
