Pickering Flat Tire Assistance & Repair Limits

Know when a Pickering flat tire can be repaired and when replacement or towing is needed. Prepare tire details and safe access before requesting help.

Treat a flat tire as an inspection decision, not an automatic plug repair. Permanent repair eligibility depends on the injury, casing condition, prior repairs and the tire manufacturer’s policy.

Have a flat or repeated pressure loss? Contact Us. Provide tire size, affected wheel and whether it was driven deflated. Confirm inspection, spare assistance or replacement as appropriate.

Preserve useful evidence without driving the flat

Record the affected wheel, warning light, pressure-loss timing and whether the vehicle was driven while deflated. An object in the tread does not prove that the tire is repairable. Do not remove it solely to test the leak. A spare must be compatible and used within its stated speed and distance limits. Confirm whether the response is spare installation, inspection, replacement or towing.

Distinguish a puncture from other air-loss sources

  • A tread object, leaking valve, sensor seal, corroded bead seat and damaged wheel require different assessments and repair scopes.
  • Report whether the leak is sudden or recurrent and whether pressure falls after an impact or recent wheel work.
  • Ask for off-wheel internal inspection before an eligible permanent puncture repair. Inner-liner or casing damage can disqualify an apparently small injury.
  • Confirm the tire manufacturer’s limits and whether replacement is needed to preserve the approved matching requirements.

A pressure top-up is not evidence that the fault has been corrected. The completed service should identify the cause, repair decision and any replacement or follow-up requirement.

Decide whether a puncture is repairable

A flat needs off-wheel inspection before a permanent repair decision. USTMA’s passenger/light-truck guidance limits eligible injuries to the repairable tread area, no greater than 6 mm, with no shoulder/belt-edge involvement or overlapping repairs. The injury channel needs a stem and the inner liner needs a patch; an outside-in plug alone is inadequate. Tire-manufacturer restrictions can be tighter, especially for run-flat or specialty tires.

Driving underinflated can damage the casing beyond the visible puncture. A sidewall injury, unsuitable previous repair, cord damage or other disqualifying condition calls for replacement. Read our tire repair service scope and provide the tire size, pressure-loss history and a safe location when requesting assistance.

Read the specification, not just the wheel diameter

A marking such as 225/45R17 94V identifies width, aspect ratio, construction, rim diameter, load index and speed symbol. The final two ratings matter as much as the size. Confirm the vehicle placard, OEM fitment and required load capacity; an XL, LT or HL designation is not interchangeable with a standard-load tire by appearance alone.

Aftermarket wheels also need correct width, offset, bolt pattern, centre bore, fastener seat and brake clearance. For AWD vehicles, check the manufacturer’s limits on circumference and tread-depth differences. Our new and used tire guide explains the quote inputs and tire categories. Named models are examples, not a live stock list.

Confirm the inspection and response plan

Give the tire size, location, pressure-loss history and any use while deflated. Confirm safe access and the initial response; after inspection, request the cause of the leak, repair eligibility and a compatible replacement quote where needed. Contact Us. Confirm current hours and the appointment at the North York shop, or the accepted mobile tire coverage for the job address.
